Finger Tracking, Haptic Feedback in Long Term Plans for PrioVR

YEI Technologies has revealed its long term plans for its PrioVR fully body motion controller. Speaking on an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, the company teased that it would like to look into both finger tracking and haptic feedback once work on the first suit had been completed. The suit supports virtual reality (VR) videogames through the use of headsets such as the Oculus Rift.

PrioVR_1Finger tracking could be a huge addition for the suit, which places different sensors around the body to track them for control in an experience. Currently the Pro version of the outfit comes with 17 sensors that measure right down to a user’s hands, but don’t track individual finger movements. Haptic feedback could also prove crucial in providing users with a sense of presence when playing with the suit.

PrioVR successfully passed its Kickstarter campaign just hours after it launched, and is aiming for a release in June 2014. VRFocus will continue to follow the suit’s progress and report back with all the latest.
