Kickstarter Launched for VR Compatible The Survival Games

Hella Games Entertianment has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming multiplayer survival combat title, The Survival Games. The campaign is looking to raise $20,000 USD before 18th April 2014 in order to get the title funded. Virtual reality (VR) support is included through the Oculus Rift VR headset as well as support for the Virtuix Omni platform.

TheSurvivalGames_1The Survival Games takes much of its inspiration from The Hunger Games novels and movies. It’s a first-person experience in which players fight to be the last man standing. Matches are set in vast arenas where players can hunt for food and gather resources before heading into battle either by themselves or by forming temporarly alliances. Supply drops and dynamic environmental hazards will also mix up every battle. Players can fight with bows and melee weapons. It’s also possible to lay traps.

As with any Kickstarter campaign, there are a range of rewards for backers, depedent on how much they pledge. They offer a range of options including $5 for access to the official The Survival Games forums. The first 50 backers to give $20 will get a digital copy of the title, which goes up to $25 after those are out of stock. Credits acknowledgement, a custom USB, outfit, physical copy of the title and character face-paint go for $78 for the first 30 backers and $90 for everyone after.

You can become an NPC in the title for $525 ($500 for the first 2) and submit an idea for the title for $750. For $1000 you can net a pair of gloves worn by the combatants as well as design a unique tattoo worn on player’s forearms. The final tier is set at $10,000 and offers all previous rewards along with a personalised plaque, openeing title credits, and an in-title banner with your name on it among other things.

Hella Games Entertainment is hoping to ship The Survival Games in January 2015, should it pass its Kickstarter funding. VRFocus will continue to follow the title and report back with all the latest.

  1. Looks awesome! I can’t wait to play it with my Rift but I can’t see many people paying for an Omni. Seems DOA
