Black Hat Oculus Demo Now Available

Team Future have released a demo version of their in-development Oculus Rift videogame, Black Hat Oculus. Originally created as part of 2014’s Global Game Jam, Black Hat Oculus is now available to download from the official Oculus Share website and is listed as ‘pre-release’, suggesting that Team Future intend to take Black Hat Oculus far further than the initial 48-hour development period would allow.

Black Hat Oculus is played by two players simultaneously. The first controls the direct movement of their avatar in first-person while wearing the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset. The second has a top-down view of the wider environment and can issue text-based commands to the first player. The ultimate goal of Black Hat Oculus is to use teamwork to reach the exit without being detected, and to grab a little cash on the way for a high score.

The development team recommend that both players utilise the same local wi-fi connection when playing Black Hat Oculus, however an IP or local LAN configuration is also available. Once the first player has started a server the second player can type player one’s IP address on the title screen before selecting the ‘B’ option. Team Future warn that this process hasn’t been extensively tested.

As stated above, Black Hat Oculus is now available to download from the Oculus Share website but also from the Global Game Jam website, where more details on the project are available. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on Black Hat Oculus and further potential VR experiences from Team Future.
