Indie developer QuantumSquid Interactive has released a demo of its RPG, Pylon, on PC with support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset. The full title is currently exlcusive to mobile platforms, but the developer has expressed interesting in porting the whole experience over to PC with VR support. The demo can be downloaded for free via the Oculus VR Share Beta and comes with support for Xbox 360 controllers.
“We put this together in just a few days while working with the Rift (DK1),” the developer revealed. “Its a fairly complete game experience, but there are some known issues/facts. We are curious as to how much interest there is for a full version of the game.
“Overall, we think the experience playing the game with the Rift is quite cool. It seems to be a fairly “easy” VR experience (to us), in that play sessions can be much longer than some other experiences.”
Pylon is a top-down action RPG in which players battle monsters as they level up characters. This demo contains the Desert area of the title, though the full experience comes with 3 more areas and bosses. Players earn and equip loot automatically in the Oculus Rift version to minimize micromanagement.
A Mac version of Pylon will also be coming soon. VRFocus will continue to follow the title and report back with any more news on a full release.
