CCP Would ‘Love’ to Create a Campaign for EVE: Valkyrie

The team at CCP Games has revealed that they would ‘love’ to make a campaign mode for their upcoming virtual reality (VR) exclusive multiplayer title, EVE: Valkyrie. The developer confirmed as much during a recent panel discussing turning the space combat title into a full experience at its EVE Fanfest event in Reykjavik, Iceland. That said, the team stressed that the title would be player vs player (PvP) only at launch.

The question of a campaign arose during the Q&A session of the panel, in which the developers detailed how the title started life with an entirely different mode and talked about classes. The team stated that they woukd ‘love to do’ a campaign down the line, but are focussed on competitive multiplayer right now. It wasn’t clear if this refered to a single-player only experience or perhaps some sort of co-operative mode.

EVE: Valkyrie allows players to sit in the cockpit of fighters from the EVE Online universe and go head-to-head in multiplayer matches. It’s due to launch on PC with the Oculus Rift VR headset as well as PlayStation 4 with the Project Morpheus headset. This weekend the team has also revealed that the title is switching development to Unreal Engine 4 and has brought on Battlestar Galactica actress Katee Sachoff. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s development and report back with all the latest.
