Death in Candlewood Passes Steam Greenlight

Rosebud Games’ horror-based first-person shooter (FPS) Death in Candlewood has passed its Steam Greenlight campaign. This means that the experience will now be sold on Valve’s digital store come its eventual full release. The title was Greenlit in just less than a month, having been posted on 24th April 2014. The developer is yet to comment on the success of the campaign following the title’s failure to achieve Kickstarter funding.

“Thanks for all of the constant support and encouragement,” the developer noted before the crowd funding campaign ended with just over $12,000 USD of its $60,000 goal raised. “We are trying as hard as we can to let people know about our game. This has been an amazing experience thanks to all of you, the backers.”

The Spanish studio hasn’t commented on the status of the title since then. Is it still in development? One of the stretch goals for the campaign had suggested that the title could support the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset, though the status of this inclusion is also unknown. The title is described as an open-world psychological FPS set in the 1940’s. The team has previous experience with franchises such as Silent Hill and The Witcher.

VRFocus will continue to follow Death in Candlewood and bring you any new updates on its developments.
