MotorStorm Creator Working on VR Titles

MotorStorm creator Martin Kenwright, who left developer Evolution Studios earlier this year, has announced that his new studio will work on virtual reality (VR) videogames. The Liverpool-based developer, named Starship, has confirmed that VR is a big part of the company’s future plans. It wasn’t revealed just which headsets the company plans to develop for, or when we might see its first VR title revealed.

“We’ve been flirting with VR for more than 20 years,” said Kenwright, who acts as Starships’ CEO, “make no mistake, that expertise will be put to good use. We’re thinking about returning to our roots with a wicked twist. Original, made-for-VR propositions are on the way. It’s truly a case of ‘watch this space’.”

While a specific VR project wasn’t revealed, Kenwright’s team is currently working on three other projects including cookery experience CyberCook, children’s adventure series Playworld, and e-health and lifestyle product Forget-Me-Not of the likes of smartphones, tablets and PCs. It wasn’t confirmed what platforms any VR project would appear on. Given the nature of these other titles, it’s also not clear if the studio will be developing traditional videogames for VR or perhaps experiences similar to these other ones.

VRFocus will continue to follow Starship’s progress in VR and report back with any more updates.
