VR Compatible FPS Tesseract Released

The developers behind online first-person shooter (FPS) Tesseract have released the first version of the title online. The experience is free to download over on the official website and comes with support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset. It is available for Windows, PC and Mac and comes with a diverse set of map editing tools which can be used for both on and offline play.

Tesseract is not a game meant to please everyone,” developer eihrul wrote in the title’s official forums, “but it focuses on populist (instagib and CTF [capture-the-flag]) gameplay while also trying to make various improvements to map editing that have only become possible with the new dynamic lighting system. It’s a bit barebones, but me and Nieb had a lot of fun (+ blood, sweat, and maybe tears) getting it even to what it is now. We’ll see how it evolves into the future, but for now… Enjoy!”

The title is an open source experience derived from free multiplayer FPS Cube 2: Sauerbraten. It updates that title with visual enhancements such as omnidirectional shadows and global illumination. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all VR titles and bring you the latest.
