Among the Sleep Sales Revealed, VR Support Improved

Krillbite Studio released its debut videogame, Among the Sleep, on PC, Mac and Linux a little over two weeks ago now. Since then the title has been treated to widespread media coverage, making it one of the most popular titles to support the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset at the moment. The developers recently commented on the reaction to the videogame since release, and detailed a new patch that improves that VR support as well as the overall experience.

The team revealed via a Steam update that it was ‘incredibly happy’ with Among the Sleep‘s critical reception. It noted that it would be taking on board much of the ‘useful criticism’ that some reviewers had given and use it to improve both the title and its future projects. The team also revealed that, as of 6th June 2014, 17,603 copies of Among the Sleep had been sold on Steam. It’s not clear if this number counts the 7,931 Kickstarter backers that pledged enough to secure a digital copy of the title during its campaign.

Also detailed in the update was a new patch for the experience, taking it to version 1.1. Several VR fixes are included in the update, such as collision issues with some non-player characters (NPC) and objects, a configurable key to reset VR orientation and a new resolution selection for VR mode. More general improvements include bug fixes as as the Teddy NPC that accompanies players blocking their route.

Among the Sleep is a first-person horror experience in which players are cast as a two-year old toddler that investigates strange noises in the middle of the night. The title proved to be a huge success on Kickstarter last year, raising nearly $250,000. Krillbite Studio has revealed that is already has ‘great plans’ for its next title, though is yet to offer any firm details on it. VRFocus will continue to follow the developer’s progress, bringing you the latest.
