Loading Human Developers Receive Oculus Rift DK2

As its July 2014 launch edges closer, certain virtual reality (VR) developers have started to receive their Oculus Rift second development kits (DK2). It appears that Untold Games, the team behind the anticipated upcoming VR experience Loading Human is one of those developers. A Twitter post sent from lead artist Daniele Il Berna revealed as much before swiftly being deleted seconds after posting.

The message tagged Oculus Rift makers Oculus VR and informed them that DK2 had arrived. Of course, this doesn’t necessarily confirm that the developer has the device itself now, it could simply be an anticipated announcement of the device’s imminent shipping to everyone, though given the post’s timing with other developers receiving the kit, it certainly seems that way.

Loading Human is an upcoming sci-fi first-person adventure title in which players explore the memory fragments of Prometheus, the son of a famous scientist who is searching for a huge energy source to power a machine that can save his father. The title recently completed a successful Kickstarter campaign and now hopes to launch the first of three episodes in early 2015 on PC, Mac and SteamOS. A PlayStation 4 version with support for Project Morpheus is also possible.

The Oculus Rift DK2 will certainly be on benefit to Untold Games, who placed a huge emphasis on the issues with motion sickness when VRFocus interviewed the team at this summer’s MCM Comic Con. The new kit massively reduces this issue by reducing latency and persistence with a 1080p OLED display. It’s set to start shipping for all those that pre-ordered the device in July 2014. VRFocus will continue to follow the progress of both Loading Human and DK2, bringing you all the latest.
