New Project CARS VR Footage Released

Slightly Mad Studios brought Project CARS to E3 2014 in a big way last week. First the developer released an impressive new trailer for the virtual reality (VR) compatible racing game, followed by confirmation that it was aiming for release in November 2014. But E3’s end hasn’t stopped the team from revealing even more footage of the experience, with new VR gameplay recently posted online.

Almost eight and a half minutes of gameplay from Project CARS can be seen below, running with the Oculus Rift VR headset on PC. The footage is taken from the title’s California Highway track, with the player driving a Pagani Cinque. It showcases several impressive features, including different weather effects that see the player drive through rain and out into the sun, as well as the overwhelming engine noises that erupt with each rev of the engine.

While Project CARS will feature full support for the Oculus Rift on PC and SteamOS, it is also planning to incorporate the Project Morpheus VR headset on PlayStation 4 when that title is released. The title is described as a ‘sandbox’ racing simulator in which players can focus on a specific style of racing or tackle its entire range of cars and tracks. It’s also due out on Xbox One and Wii U. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s development leading up to launch, bringing you all the latest.
