Caffeine Gets First Development Log

Indie developer Dylan Browne recently launched another crowd-funding attempt for his upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible sci-fi horror title, Caffeine, via IndieGoGo. The campaign hopes to raise $5,000 USD, a significantly reduced amount from previous goals, in order to fund development of the title. Now Browne has released his first development log video for the upcoming title, showcasing its creation using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4.

This first log runs through a number of features that will appear in the full version of the title including object interaction. The video, which lasts over 10 minutes, consists almost entirely of in-engine gameplay that walks us through Caffeine‘s impressive physics systems, as well as a look at lighting and adding details such as water and rust to environments.

Caffeine is a first-person horror title that casts players as a young boy who awakens on board an abandoned caffeine mining facility in space. Players must tour the environment, uncovering clues as to what has happened at the facility and solving puzzles and traps. The title is aiming to arrive on PC, Mac and Linux with support for the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD) and PlayStation 4. VRFocus will continue to follow the title going forward, reporting back with any further updates.
