Dark Deception Wins Audience Best in Show at Casual Connect 2014

Glowstick Games seems to be finding its feet again after cancelling its Kickstarter campaign for upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible horror videogame Dark Deception last month. This week the developer attended the Casual Connect in San Francisco, California, which runs from 22nd – 24th July 2014 and ended up taking the audience-voted Best in Show award as the Indie Prize Showcase.

“#DarkDeception won the Indie Prize Best Game in Show: Audience Choice Award at CCSF!” the developer posted on Twitter following the news. A picture of the award was also posted, and can be seen below.

Dark Deception is a first-person horror experience in which users explore maze-like levels gathering crystals as they are hunted by horrific enemies that are unique to each environment. The developer had hoped to raise $50,000 USD via Kickstarter to bring the title to PC and PlayStation 4 with support for the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus VR head-mounted displays (HMDs), as well as Wii U. However the campaign was cancelled before completion due to lack of funding.

Speaking to VRFocus earlier in July, Glowstick Games confirmed that Dark Deception was ‘very much alive‘, and that it is possible for the title to make another attempt at Kickstarter funding or even secure funds from a publisher. The full interview, in which the developer further discusses inspirations and more, can be found here. VRFocus will continue to follow Dark Deception’s progress going forward, reporting back with any further updates.
