Developer Releases The Fire Place VR Experience

Much talk as been made of virtual reality (VR)’s ability to provide immersive experiences that transport players to other places. While this has meant that many focus on more intense, atmospheric and perhaps scarier videogames, others have chosen to focus on the more relaxing applications of a device such as the Oculus Rift VR headset. Recently release on the official Oculus VR Share Beta, The Fire Place is one of those titles.

The Fire Place can currently be downloaded for free on PC, with no word on possible Mac and Linux versions. The software simply lets players strap on an Oculus Rift VR headset and watch a fireplace as it cracklers away. Not only that, but the title is multiplayer, meaning that you can sit and enjoy the scene with a complete stranger. Players are simply placed on a chair in a spacious living room in front of the main attraction.

It’s a simple piece with simple aims. Don’t expect to hear much more about the project; developer Kenji Takahashi makes no mentions of any possible updates. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, bringing you the latest on the technology.
