EVE: Valkyrie

EVE Valkyrie Dev Talks VR Excitement, Technical Difficulties & VR in Other Industries

CCP Newcastle’s EVE Valkyrie is being held in very high regard by the virtual reality (VR) community without even a whisper of a release date. This is largely thanks to the open and public nature of the videogame’s development, from a simply prototype debuted to fans at EVE Fanfest 2013 to the dual format release we see coming to the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus head-mounted displays (HMDs) for PC and PlayStation 4 respectively. VRFocus recently sat down with one of the founding members of the EVE Valkyrie team, Rob Clarke, to discuss the highs and lows of working in VR.

Of course, EVE Valkyrie is paving the way for VR in such a fashion that it will inevitably encounter issues during it’s development. Clarke is coy about the situation, readily admitting that the differences between developing a ‘traditional’ videogame and a VR experience have been noticeable and yet suggesting that it’s par for the course. That his team are ready for the challenge. The full interview with Clarke follows below and VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on EVE Valkyrie.
