Subject 13 Developer has ‘discussed’ Console Port

As a third-person adventure videogame, Subject 13 is aiming to be something of a homecoming for Flashback developer Paul Cuisset. Indie videogame publisher Microïds is currently running a Kickstarter campaign for the title which, as VRFocus reported last week, is teasing support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) as a stretch goal on PC. But could the title ever come to console?

VRFocus asked Cuisset just that in an interview that will be published in full later this week. Cuisset revealed that he had ‘discussed’ bringing the upcoming title to consoles, and that fans interested in such a port should let the developer know via the Kickstarter campaign.

“Bringing Subject 13 to console is certainly something we have discussed,” Cuisset said. “If fans would like to see that, they are more than welcome to come to our Kickstarter page and voice their opinions! I am as excited to have a dialog with players as I am to receive pledges to back our game. That is part of the gaming world that gives me great hope for the future as developers like myself can talk more directly with players and make the games that fans really want to play.”

Subject 13 casts players as Franklin Fargo, a depressed physics professor mourning the loss of his fiancée. Fargo is imprisoned in an abandoned underground scientific facility, with a mysterious voice refering to him as Subject 13. Players must solve a range of puzzles in order to progress through the story and escape the facility.

Subject 13‘s Kickstarter campaign hopes to raise $40,000 USD before 8th August 2014, with an Oculus Rift stretch goal set at $60,000. VRFocus will be delivering the full interview with Cuisset later on in the week.
