Technolust DK2 Beta Launching This Month, PrioVR Support Confirmed

Indie developer Iris VR has been hard at work on Technolust since the project was funded on Kickstarter back in May 2014. As a result we haven’t seen much on the title in the months following its successful campaign, though the developer this week issued a big update, promising the immenent arrival of a beta version of the title that is compatible with the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset’s second development kit (DK2) as well as confirming a brand new control option.

The DK2 Beta will be available to all those that pledged $30 CAD or more during Technolust‘s Kickstarter campaign, or those that pre-order the title on its official site. According to the developer, the Beta will include positional tracking support, updated art and new areas for players to explore. It should also run at 75 fps on a ‘decent gaming PC’. Iris VR plans to release the beta as soon as the first DK2 units reach those that ordered them, which is thought to be 14th July 2014 at the earliest. The beta will also work with the DK1 headset.

On top of this news, it was also revealed that Technolust will feature support for the PrioVR full-body motion control suit. Players will be able to strap on the suit, which places different sensors around their body, and have their movements replicated in-game, allowing for precise and realistic control. There are three versions of the PrioVR suit in production with varying amounts of sensors on each, though it’s not yet clear just how much Technolust with utlise.

Technolust is a first-person adventure title set in a cyberpunk future in which players join a resistance against large corporations that have assumed control. Iris VR hopes to release the full title later on this year on PC, Mac and Linux. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress and report back with any more updates regarding its development.
