Caffeine Offers New Look at Demo

Earlier this week indie developer Dylan Browne released a new demo for his upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible sci-fi horror experience, Caffeine. The demo, released in support for the title’s ongoing IndieGoGo campaign, is based off of the build shown at the recent AVCon 2014 and is compatible with the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display’s (HMD) second development kit (DK2). Now Browne has released a fresh look at the demo in the form of a new trailer as seen below.

The trailer contains just over three and a half minutes of brand new gameplay from the upcoming first-experience. Caffeine is a first-person title in which players are cast as a young boy that awakens on board an abandoned Caffeine mining facility in space. Players must then explore the facility, uncovering what has happened to its crew while they solve puzzles and avoid environmental traps and more. The developer recently teased to VRFocus the existence of another threat.

Caffeine‘s IndieGoGo campaign is hoping to raise $5,000 USD to help fund development of the title. At the titme of writing the campaign has raised just under $1,000 with three weeks to go before its 30th August 2014 closure. Browne has suggested to VRFocus that the title could also come to the Project Morpheus VR HMD on its already-confirmed PlayStation 4 version. VRFocus will continue to follow Caffeine‘s progress going forward, reporting back with any further updates.
