House of Secrets Launches Lavaworld for Oculus Rift

An intriguing new virtual reality (VR) experience has seen release for the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD) recently. That experience is Lavaworld, a first-person platform videogame from House of Secrets. The title can currently be downloaded for free on PC over on the official Oculus VR Share Beta. Support for the Mac or Linux operating systems has not be mentioned at this time.

Lavaworld is a simply experience that lets players explore a detailed volcanic landscape, jumping between floating rocks. The software was originally created for a NuFormer VR experience center in Holland, which lets users walk around the experience themselves. Here it can be downloaded and controlled using either a keyboard or gamepad. The experience is compatible with the first development kit (DK1) for the Oculus Rift, with DK2 support not planned.

Lavaworld was built using the Unity engine. It’s not clear if players might get to experience the motion tracked version of the title outside of Holland in the future. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with any further updates.
