Bear Simulator Release Window, Pricing Revealed

Earlier in the year indie developer Farjay Studios saw huge success with its Kickstarter campaign for Bear Simulator, a new videogame in which players lives out the life of a bear. The crowd-funding page even suggested that the title could see support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). Since the campaign’s success the developer has remained hard at work on the project and, while not confirming VR support just yet, has recently revealed some release details for the project.

Writing in a recent update for the project, Farjay Studios revealed that it was aiming to release Bear Simulator ‘before the holidays’, likely referring to the Christmas 2014 period. This gives the developer around a three month window to release the title from now. As for price, it was revealed that the experience will likely cost $15 USD for those that didn’t already back the title during its Kickstarter campaign. Other rewards offered through Kickstarter will eventually be available with a Paypal option as well.

As for a release on Steam, Farjay Studios confirmed that Bear Simulator would be submitted to Steam Greenlight in the future so that the community can vote to have it sold on Valve’s digital store come full release. In fact the developer also revealed that it was saving promotional materials for that title in order to use them when the Greenlight campaign is up and running. A date for the campaign launch was not revealed.

VRFocus will continue to follow Bear Simulator going forward, reporting back with any further updates on its VR support.
