Earlier in the month VRFocus reported on the launch of a Steam Greenlight campaign for a new surreal virtual reality (VR) experience named Dreamflight. Indie developer Refugio 3D is still trying to get the title approved for sale on Valve’s digital PC store, but has this week launched a new playable demo for the experience that might help sway some people. The demo is currently available for free over on the official Oculus VR Share Beta on PC.
Dreamflight is a unique experience in which players pilot a plane and explore a vast fantasy setting. The area is littered with unusual and surreal sights and sounds, letting players explore each one in detail as they hover above an ocean. Highlights include ancient ships, floating islands and exotic wildlife, all of which can be viewed using the Oculus Rift head-mounted display’s (HMD) second development kit (DK2).
According to the developer Dreamflight has been tested by real pilots in order to fine tune the experience. It’s currently not clear just when the title might launch in full but for now players can explore as much as they like. VRFocus will continue to follow Dreamflight moving forward, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
