Innerspace VR’s Playhead Coming to Gear VR

Innerspace VR, the indie developer behind immersive virtual reality (VR) experiences such as The Cave, has announced that it is one of the many developers working on Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based VR head-mounted display (HMD). The studio has confirmed that it will be bringing its upcoming music-based videogame, Playhead, to the platform along with its already-announced Oculus Rift version.

Playhead allows players to combine music and world creating in a unique mix. Players can edit songs, stripping them down to individual notes and effectively rebuilding them how they see fit. As changes are made to the music a visual landscape is also remixed. As the developer puts it, by editing the song, players also edit the title’s universe. The studio will be releasing its own songs for the title regulary of it launches.

This isn’t the only music title confirmed for Gear VR. Following the device’s reveal last week Rock Band developer Harmonix also announced Harmonix Music VR, its own unique music visualiser that allows players to enjoy their own music with the Gear VR. It certainly seems as if the music genre has a bright future with VR HMDs, then. VRFocus will continue to follow Playhead going forward, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
