Lunar Flight to Add Oculus, Gear VR, Dive Support

Another indie videogame has announced plans to support a wide range of virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMD) with its title this week. LocoVR, the studio behind upcoming arcade-style space experience Lunar Flight has confirmed that it plans to support not just the Oculus Rift but also Samsung’s Gear VR and the Durovis Dive in the future. The title has this week launched a Steam Greenlight campaign to be approved for sale on Valve’s digital store come full release.

Lunar Flight sees players commandeering a ‘moon rover’ as they complete various objectives. Players will have to manage fuel supplies and dodge obstacles as that transport cargo, rescue astronauts and more. The title features a control scheme that’s said to be hard to master as they fine-tune landings, making sure not to damage the vehicle. As the experience progresses there will be new vehicles to drive. The title is planning to feature 10 levels at launch, adding more later on.

Along with Oculus Rift support for the PC version and Gear VR and Durvois Dive support on Android, LocoVR plans to add multiplayer modes to the experience as well as new environments including Saturn’s moon, Titan, and Mars. Those interested can currently sample the first demo for Lunar Flight, which is available from the developer’s official website. The full experience is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2015.

VRFocus will continue to follow Lunar Flight moving forward, reporting back with any further updates.
