More Official Oculus Rift Crescent Bay Images Arrive

This weekend saw Oculus VR host its first ever Oculus Connect developer conference in Hollywood, California. Plenty of news about the company and its work with virtual reality (VR) came from the event, the biggest of which was the reveal of a new prototype for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), Crescent Bay. CEO Brendan Iribe revealed the device during his keynote speech on the morning of the second day of the show. Now new images of the HMD have arrived.

Three new photos of Crescent Bay, taken by Oculus VR itself, can be seen below. They showcase many of the new prototype’s updated features, arguably the most import of which being the integrated headphones. They can be seen sitting either side of the device where they can be adjusted to either fit user’s ears or be moved out of the way entirely. Also on display is the new headstrap that fights over the top of the user’s head.

Crescent Bay remains a prototype for now, with no word on if it could see release in any form. Iribe did stress that it wasn’t the consumer version of the Oculus Rift during his speech, but did not that it was indeed a significant step towards that release. VRFocus will continue to follow the Oculus Rift moving forward, reporting back with any further updates on its progress.
