VR Adventure G.R.E.C Launches Pre-Release Version

While plenty of developers have revealed intriguing experiences, demos and exploration titles for virtual reality (VR), it’s always exciting to see more fleshed out videogames revealed for the technology. Indie developer Iron Cloud, a two-man student team, has recently revealed what looks to be a more traditional videogame for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) in G.R.E.C, an adventure title that has recently launched a pre-release version.

G.R.E.C is a first-person adventure title set in a post-apocalyptic world. Players are cast as an agent of the titular organisation, exploring the area of Vankhart Valley after deadly spores have infected much of mankind. It’s a G.R.E.C agent’s job to explore the ruins of civilisation, salvaging what they can. Environments are scoured with players using special jump boots to reach areas while also keeping tracking of a meter that tells them how much longer they can breath the air.

An alpha version of G.R.E.C is currently available to download on both PC and Mac for free over on the official Oculus Share Beta. The title features full support for the first development kit (DK1) for the Oculus Rift. Support for the second development kit (DK2) is yet to be confirmed. It’s currently not clear when and how an updated version of the title might see release. VRFocus will continue to follow G.R.E.C going forward, reporting backing with any further updates on its development.
