Intersteller VR Experience Coming to UK This Week

Earlier in the month VRFocus reported on the reveal of a new virtual reality (VR) experience based on Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie, Interstellar. The experience, which uses the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), is currently touring the US ahead of the movie’s release. Today it has been revealed that fans in the UK will also get to sample to exhibit, albeit only for one weekend.

Warner Bros. Pictures and IMAX will be bringing the Interstellar VR experience to the BFI IMAX located in London on 24th October 2014. The experience will be free to all those that line up and will be open from 11:00 to 21:00 GMT+1. Pre-booked slots are said to be available from 12:30 – 14:00 and 18:30 to 19:30, though VRFocus has been told that these slots have already been fully allocated. The first 200 visitors will also receive a path modelled after the crew in the movie.

Those that can’t make it to the booth can instead sample the experience at this weekend’s MCM London Comic Con from 24th – 26th October. Tickets for this booth will be available to purchase at the convention itself. It’s not yet clear just how much these tickets will be priced.

The experience transports users to the Endurance spacecraft seen in the upcoming movie and will allow them to experience zero gravity within VR. A few weeks ago rumours suggested that it could see a release for consumers later down the line. As for Interstellar itself, the movie hits cinemas on 7th November. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all VR-related news, reporting back with the latest updates.
