Yesterday VRFocus reported on the reveal of a new virtual reality (VR) cardboard-based head-mounted display (HMD) from DODOcase, iterating on Google’s own cardboard VR concept to include support for Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones. This week also sees the launch of another cardboard VR HMD, this time from technology accessory company Powis Custom. The PowisCardboard VR Kit is available to order now.
The kit is essentially another iteration of Google Cardobard, albeit with a number of unique improvements to its name. While the set includes the usual pre-cut cardboard, magnets an elastic band and more, it also contains larger bi-convex lenses and a new foam eye piece for added comfort. The assembled kit also allows for adjustable focal length design. The cardboard itself is black, giving the device a look closer to the Oculus Rift PC HMD.
The PowerCardboard Virtual Reality Kit is now available to order from the company’s official web site. The same page includes the necessary instructions to assemble the device. It’s not clear specifically which smartphones are supported with the kit, although its likely to be similar to those that work with Google Cardboard. VRFocus will continue to follow each and every VR HMD, reporting back with any more updates.
