Being a Bird Work-in-Progress Demo Released for Oculus Rift

Virtual reality (VR) will let players step into entirely different bodies. Of course, those bodies don’t have to be human. Being a Bird from indie developer Trash Dragon Games capitalises on this idea, giving players the chance to do exactly as the title states and become a bird. This month the developer has released a new work-in-progress demo for the experience, which is compatible with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).

Being a Bird lets players fly around a virtual world using the Oculus Rift’s head-tracking technology to control flight. The developer intends for the full title to be comprised of both single-player and multiplayer missions that will range from fun challenges to carrying out simple tasks as normal birds would. This demo has been stressed as a work-in-progress for now. The full title is aiming to appeal to both children and adults.

The demo can be downloaded on the official Oculus VR Share beta on PC, Mac and Linux with full support for the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2). The developer is yet to provide a release date for the full version of the experience. VRFocus will continue to follow Being a Bird as its progresses, reporting back with any further updates on the title’s development.
