Earlier this week indie developer Ground Control Studios launched a Steam Greenlight campaign for an upcoming virtual reality (VR) space simulation title named Cosmonaut. The title hopes to secure enough positive votes to be approved for sale on the Steam digital store come full release, whenever that may be. Now the first teaser trailer for the title has arrived, which can be seen below.
The brief teaser provides just a small taste of the atmosphere and tone of Cosmonaut, in which players are cast as a cosmonaut that finds himself in a fight for survival in space. The footage is light on gameplay, though does call back to the same kind of feeling given when watching a trailer for the 2013 blockbuster 3D movie, Gravity.
Cosmonaut will launch with full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) and Kinect motion sensor. VRFocus will continue to follow Cosmonaut’s progress in the future, reporting back with any further updates.
UPDATE: This article originally stated that Cosmonaut‘s developer was named We Came From Mars. The team is in fact known as Ground Control Studios. This information has been changed and VRFocus apologises for any confusion.
