Glitchspace Updates to Alpha 1.8

Indie developer Space Budgie continues to improve upon its pre-release version of virtual reality (VR) compatible puzzle title, Glitchspace, which is currently out on Steam’s Early Access service. Recently the experience has seen another major update to Alpha 1.8, bringing with it a host of new additions, changes and fixes that bring Glitchspace ever closer to a full launch. When the title does launch it will include full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display.


Highlighting Glitchspace Alpha 1.8 is a re-vamped sandbox mode that grants players full access to the title’s brand of first-person puzzling, in which platforms must be manipulated to create a pathway for players to progress through levels. Space Budgie has also added two new levels, namely the third and tenth areas found in the campaign. A new secret area has also been included along with an ‘IF’ function and the ability to delete nodes with a right-click.

In terms of bug fixes, Space Budgie has explained that the title’s portals will now use the player’s direction of movement instead of where they’re looking. The title’s ApplyForce is no longer capped and red cubes that previously couldn’t be manipulated have now been removed. Finally, an issue with inputs being disconnected when the screen is closing has been solved as has a player rendering bug that was causing some issues.

Glitchspace is aiming to launch in full in March 2015 on PC, Mac and Linux. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress moving forward, reporting back with all the latest updates on its development.
