Live Action VR Experience Colours of Muskoka Released

For those that don’t feel like they can handle any of the many virtual reality (VR) horror movies that have been announced or revealed this month, Intrepid 360 has something for you. The studio has released Colours of Muskoka – Paddling the Big East, a new 360 degree experience that is compatible with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). The short piece can currently be downloaded via the official Oculus VR Share Beta on both PC and Mac for free.

Colours of Muskoka – Paddling the Big East sits viewers in a canoe on the Big East River in Muskoka, Canada. The audience need only relax as they’re paddled downstream, taking in the autumn sights and sounds of different coloured leaves, clear waters and sunny skies. As they look around viewers will find a dog resting behind them. The experience has been created as part of an effort by the developers to inspire people to visit Muskoka itself.

The experience is compatible with both the first and second development kits (DK1 and DK2) for the Oculus Rift. It requires either the Kolor Eyes 360 video player or similar 360 degree video playing software to work. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with all of the latest updates.
