Oculus Rift Support Coming to Dungeon Nightmares II

This week sees another horror-based videogame pledge support towards virtual reality (VR) technology. Dungeon Nightmares II from indie developer K Monkey has confirmed that it will be adding full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). The title is currently running a Steam Greenlight campaign, seeking enough positive votes from the community to be approved for sale on Valve’s digital PC store come full release. The said of said release is yet to be revealed.

Dungeon Nightmares II is the sequel to mobile and PC procedurally-generated horror experience, Dungeon Nightmares. For its latest title, K Monkey is focusing on PC development. The original was a first-person experience in which players toured a dungeon, searching for an exit as they survive against enemies. The title features a permadeath system, meaning that players start over from scratch every time they die, exploring an entirely new map layout. The developer plans to take each of these elements and improve on them in the sequel.

In terms of Oculus Rift support, K Monkey revealed that it had always hoped to add integration into Dungeon Nightmares II. That said, the studio is yet to receive its own Oculus Rift for development, although has promised that this won’t change the release of the game in any way. A demo for Dungeon Nightmares II can currently be downloaded from the title’s official website. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress leading up to release, reporting back with any further updates on its development.

  1. The demo of Dungeon Nightmares II truly gives off a deadly, terrifying vibe. It has everything a horror video game is supposed to have. Creepy sound effects, dark twists, a haunting atmosphere, blood curdling nightmares, spooky visitors.. you name it. Overall, Dungeon Nightmares II is an incredible experience but this game might just end up giving you night terrors!
