SDC 2014: ‘Getting Started with the Oculus Mobile SDK’ Liveblog

It’s time for what has easily been one of the more anticipated virtual reality (VR) sessions for this year’s Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) in San Francisco. That session is ‘Getting Started with the Oculus Mobile SDK’, a look at developing VR experiences for the Gear VR smartphone-based head-mounted display (HMD). The talk will be hosted by Oculus VR’s Jonathan Wright and J.M.P. Van Waveren. VRFocus is liveblogging the action below.

“This session will focus on the Oculus SDK for Mobile developers,” the talk’s official description reads. “Topics will include tips for getting started with the SDK for both native and Unity application development, an overview of the TimeWarp architecture and its impact on development, tips for high-performance mobile VR applications, interface design in VR, planned improvements, and insights gained and challenges overcome during the development of Gear VR. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the engineers responsible for developing the Gear VR SDK.”

Fittingly, the Mobile SDK was released earlier today. This will be the first chance to find out how to get to grips with the tools, then. VRFocus is at SDC all week to bring you the latest VR updates.
