Synthesis Universe -Maze- Launches on Oculus Share

Independent developer OlivierJT has developed a not insignificant following in the virtual reality (VR) community thanks largely to his dedication to the revival of the technology as a consumer medium. His debut project for the modern wave of VR, Synthesis Universe, has today seen it’s second public release, available to download now via Oculus Share.

Synthesis Universe was revealed earlier this year with a unique trailer that showcased a cinematic sequence taken from the videogame. This trailer was available via Oculus Share and was available to experience within the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), however it was entirely non-interactive. This second release, Synthesis Universe -Maze-, launched today, is compatible with the second iteration of the Oculus Rift development kit (aka DK2) and reveals much more of what the final experience will entail.

A science-fiction title, Synthesis Universe casts the player as an android and in this earliest part of the videogame has your body being developed moments after Synthesis Universe -Maze- begins. The videogame is being developed using Unreal Engine 4 and has had a significant visual overhaul since it’s first release.

OlivierJT has been very vocal about the user input aspect of VR and intends to support many different devices with Synthesis Universe, though at present , Synthesis Universe -Maze- is only compatible with mouse and keyboard of gamepad set-ups. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest developments with , Synthesis Universe and other projects from OlivierJT.
