Co-op Survival Horror Title Haures Launches Steam Greenlight Campaign

The horror vidoegame genre is proving to be something with a hit with indie virtual reality (VR) developers and that trend continues this week with the launch of a new Steam Greenlight campaign for a cooperative survival horror title named Haures. Created by MeowzieGames, a small team formed earlier in 2014, this Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) compatible title is hoping to secure enough positive votes to be approved for sale on Valve’s digital PC store come full release.

Haures is a four-player experience in which players must work together to find their way out of a series of terrifying mazes. Players will be subjected to scares as they try to gather keys that will help them find their way out. Mazes will be dark, dank environments, with a fault flashlight being the player’s only means of seeing a way through to the end. The title will randomly generated maps that can also be played in single-player, although the developer does recommend it be experienced in co-op.

It’s not yet clear when Haures will be released. MeowzieGames is developing the experience using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4 with full support for the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2). VRFocus will continue to follow Haures, reporting back with any further updates on its progress.
