The announcements at Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE) PlayStation Experience event, currently ongoing in Las Vegas, have been coming thick-and-fast. Titles such as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Bloodborne and Street Fighter V have been stealing the headlines, but arguably one of the most interesting reveals is that Endnight Games’ The Forest – a virtual reality (VR) title on PC – has been confirmed for PlayStation 4.
The Forest is a first-person survival title in which the player can equip all manner of weapons as they fight for their life against a society of cannibalistic mutants. An unfortunate turn of events that begins with a plane crash sees you outnumbered and constantly under pressure. Players will not only have to fight off the hordes of aggressive enemy challengers, but also build a shelter and ensure that they can survive the long cold nights.
Already available via Steam Early Access, The Forest is compatible with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) on PC. There has been no confirmation as to whether The Forest will support Project Morpheus on PlayStation 4 nor whether it’s exclusive to SCE’s format in the world of consoles, however VRFocus will of course keep you updated with all the latest from Endnight Games.
