Gear VR Bundle Sells Out in 2 Hours

Earlier today UK-based virtual reality (VR) fans and developers had their wishes granted as Samsung finally launched its Gear VR smartphone-based VR head-mounted display (HMD) in the region. The company quietly listed its new device over on its official website, offering the kit by itself and a bundle that includes an official Samsung Bluetooth Gamepad. Fans have acted fast to grab the latter of these two products, as the bundle is already out of stock on the site.

The bundle edition of Gear VR was set at £199 GBP and is now listed as ‘Temporarily Out of Stock’. The standard kit is still on sale for £169, though there’s no word on just how much longer this will be the case. Of course, it is possible to buy the Gamepad by itself, though it costs £59. That would make a purchase of both by themselves come to some £228, almost £30 more than the bundle. It’s not yet clear just when the bundle will come back in stock.

Gear VR runs with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, an enlarged smartphone with a Quad HD display. Content can be downloaded from the Oculus VR Store once the device is set up, although said store is currently only populated with free experiences. A premium store option is expected to arrive in the near future. VRFocus will continue to follow Gear VR closely, reporting back with any further updates on the kit.
