Ghost Machine’s Final Strike Hits Steam Greenlight

It’s a busy time for Austin-based indie developer Ghost Machine. Earlier this month the studio launched a Steam Greenlight campaign for a new virtual reality (VR) compatible shooter by the name of Endless Dead. The zombie action experience is still running that campaign, but that hasn’t stopped the developer from this week launching another. This time it’s Ghost Machine’s VR flight simulation experience, Final Strike, that has come to the service in hopes to securing enough ‘Yes’ votes to launch on Valve’s digital PC store come full release.

Those that have been following VRFocus or Ghost Machine over the past year may remember Final Strike by its original title, Final Burn. The experience uses the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) to put players in the cockpit of an F-16 fighter jet to fend off waves of incoming alien invaders. The developers themselves note that the title is intended to be reminiscent of invasion films such as Ronald Emmerich’s Independence Day. Battles take place over an open environment with enemies spewing out of a mothership.

The campaign’s launch comes just under two weeks after the full launch of Ghost Machine’s MotorSport Revolution, which is available now from Steam for £10.99 GBP with full Oculus Rift support. It’s currently not clear just when Final Strike might launch if its Greenlight campaign proves to be successful, nor if there will be an Early Access release for the title as there was with MotorSport Revolution. Endless Dead is also yet to receive any such release information at this point in time.

There’s plenty of new VR content in development at Ghost Machine, then. VRFocus will continue to follow the developer closely, reporting back with any further updates on it.
