New UK Gear VR Bundles Now Arriving Next Month

Earlier today Samsung finally released Gear VR, its anticipated smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), in the UK. The kit has proved to be something of a hit, with a bundle that includes the company’s official Bluetooth controller already out of stock. For those still hoping to pick up this version of the device it looks like a short wait is in order.

The Gear VR bundle is now listed on Samsung’s official website for shipping on 4th February 2015. That sets the next batch to arrive on Wednesday next week. The kit is available to order again for £199 GBP, so those hoping to pick up the bundle should act fast. The standalone edition, meanwhile is listed as ‘Nearly Out of Stock’ at a price of £169. The controller can also be bought by itself for £59, meaning buying the two separately would cost £228.

Gear VR runs using Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 smartphone, which features and enlarged Quad HD display. Owners of the device are still awaiting the arrival of a premium option for the Oculus VR Store that hosts all compatible content. VRFocus will continue to follow the device’s progress, reporting back with any further updates on it.
