New Virtuix Omni Video Provides First Look at Final Version

It’s been known for a while now that Virtuix is planning to showcase the final, consumer-ready version of its Omni omnidirectional treadmill at this week’s 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The company expects to start shipping the anticipated device, which is designed for virtual reality (VR) experiences, a little later on in the year. However an early look at the final version of the Virtuix Omni has seemingly launched online a short while before CES itself opens. The fresh glimpse comes in the form of a new video that can be seen below.

The video first appeared on Virtuix’s new website. It shows a user stepping onto the Omni and locking themselves in place by securing the waist line ring around the circumference of the device and raising the two stands to an appropriate height. For the most part the design is very similar to previous iterations of the Omni even down to the kit’s black and green colour scheme. No doubt the company itself will be able to point out a long list of updates and additions that it has been able to make with the aid of the successful funding rounds that it saw in 2014.

Virtuix is planning to start shipping the Omni early on in 2015. Those that were early adopters of the device should receive their kits before April while those that pre-ordered around Christmas time can expect it that month. The kit is currently set at $499 USD, with a pair of shoes and the necessary software also included. Separate parts of the device can also be purchased individually, including a rack to hold controllers and more. Once set up, players will be able to start running round in VR experiences using the Oculus Rift or Gear VR head-mounted displays (HMD).

VRFocus is at CES to take a look at the final version of the Virtuix Omni and all other VR products, bringing you the latest updates.
