Oculus Creator ‘Super Excited’ About Microsoft HoloLens

Despite rumours of Microsoft revealing a virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) in the near future the technology giant has today revealed a very different type of HMD. HoloLens, as it’s called, is a see-through device that allows users to view and interact with holograms. The concept has already been met with praise from much of the technology industry, but what does Palmer Luckey, creator of the Oculus Rift VR HMD make of it?

According to a recent tweet, Luckey is ‘Super Excited’ about HoloLens and the Windows Holographic initative. The designer stated as much, tagging both Microsoft and HoloLens’ Twitter accounts in the process. During the reveal presentation that took place at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington today the company even invited Oculus VR itself to come and work with Microsoft on creating content for HoloLens. Luckey didn’t reply to that specific offer at this time.

Release details for HoloLens are still thin, although it appears that a brand new version of Minecraft will be heading to the kit. VRFocus will continue to follow the technology closely, reporting back with any further updates on it.
