Papo & Yo Developer Announces VR Title: Time Machine

Minority Media Inc., creator of the award-winning Papo & Yo, have today announced a brand new project. Time Machine will make it’s debut at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), San   Francisco, next month and will also be shown at PAX East, Boston.

Time Machine is a new virtual reality (VR) time travel adventure videogame and attendees at both GDC and PAX East will be among the first to have a hands-on experience on an Oculus Rift development kit. Set in 2070, you are part of an elite research team recruited by the Monda Muzeo (WorldMuseum), humankind’s leading institution of knowledge. Your mission is to assemble the most comprehensive record of Earth’s prehistory ever created. To complete your quest, you will travel back to the Jurassic era and navigate a treacherous ecosystem while scanning live dinosaurs to collect their biological data. But it won’t be as simple as it sounds.

Time Machine is helmed by Papo & Yo‘s creative director, Vander Caballero, and written by sekretagent Productions, who helped pen four titles in the successful Assassin’s Creed franchise. “We’ve always been inspired by film making,” said Minority’s CEO, Vander Caballero. “Great sci-fi movies – like 2001, Contact, and Interstellar – use futuristic technology as a way to tell a deeper story. That’s what we want to do with Time Machine.”

With no official launch date announced, Minority Media plans for the completion of Time Machine to ‘coincide with the release of the first consumer VR devices’, which could potentially include both PC and PlayStation 4 head-mounted displays (HMDs), though the formats being developed for have not yet been confirmed. VRFocus will be attending GDC and will keep you updated with all the latest details on Time Machine.
