SWVRC Announces Livestream, New Exhibitors and More

It’s just less than a week now until the first ever South West Virtual Reality Conference (SWVRC) takes place in Bristol, UK, running on 24th February 2015. Over the course of the past few months the organisers have announced a wide range of speakers and exhibitors for the event, including the likes of Radial-G developer Tammeka Games and Andy Serkis’ The Imaginarium. Even Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) creator Oculus VR will be attending. Today sees a few more outlets added to that line-up along with some other interesting reveals.

Added to the list are Nozon, Hammerhead Interactive and Ultra Haptics. The former recently revealed its unique software that allows for positional tracking within CG 360 degree movies. Hammerhead Interactive is working on a number of VR projects including its underwater exploration title, Undercurrent. Ultra Haptics, meanwhile, is creating tactile sensations in mid-air without the use of gloves or other such attachments, which could have a number of benefits for VR. Both Hammerhead Interactive and Ultra Haptics will be speaking and exhibiting at the event while Nozon is exhibiting alone.

But SWVRC isn’t stopping there; it’s also been announced that the event will both be live-streamed inside popular VR video-sharing platform Riftmax Theatre and filmed in 360 degree with the help of immersiv.ly. That means that friends will be able to meet up and watch the conference using the Oculus Rift on the day and then get a taste of what being there was like at a later date. Details on the release of the 360 degree footage are yet to be released. The event also now has an official media partner in TechRadar.

Tickets to SWVRC are now sold out but, as is clear, there will be plenty of chances to still experience the event next week. VRFocus will be at SWVRC to bring you all of the latest updates.
