Atmosphaeres Relaxation Experience Helps Patient Recover From Surgery

Previously VRFocus has reported on Dr Eric Fassbender’s virtual reality (VR) experiences named Atmosphaeres which put players in a relaxing beach setting. Now it seems that a patient in South Australia has been using Samsung’s Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD) in order to combat pain and anxiety following a leg operation.

Robert Deluce from Adelaide, Australia has been recovering from the usual pain which comes with operations. As he owned a Gear VR, he recalled a relaxation experience showcased in an article. Using the HMD, Deluce used the 360 degree video Dream Beach which transported him to Blowhole Beach, Australia. Soon he realised that the experience was relaxing enough that it helped him forget about the pain he was going through.

The patient discussed his experiences with Dr Fassbender’s experience: “It totally moved me from my hospital bed to another place. After about 5 minutes of playing the Virtual Relaxation video I was already feeling much more relaxed and free”.

In response the developer expressed his joy in helping someone through a difficult time: “I thank Deluce for sharing his experiences with Dream Beach 360. It’s fantastic to hear from people who are benefiting from the Atmosphaeres‘ intended purpose of relieving pain, anxiety and stress.”

VRFocus will keep you updated on the latest from Dr Fassbender’s relaxation experiences.

  1. Thank you VRFocus for your recent coverage of Robert’s successful use of our Atmosphaeres to help him relieve post-operative stress, pain and anxiety. Please note that the correct spelling is Atmosphaeres (ancient Greek spelling of Atmospheres) rather than Atmosphaers.

Thanks again for your interest in my efforts in Virtual Relaxation.

    Yours sincerely,

    Dr. Eric Fassbender
