CCP Games Details Pre-Alpha Test Program for EVE: Valkyrie

For the past two years virtual reality (VR) fans have looked on as CCP Games has showcased its anticipated VR multiplayer space combat experience, EVE: Valkyrie, at various industry events. But while the videogame continues to impress, many fans have one big question on their minds; when will they get to play it? While a true release date is still yet to be revealed, CCP Games has recently announced a pre-alpha test program for a limited amount of fans to be able to test the experience.

The testing period was announced today at the EVE Fanfest event in Reykjavik, Iceland. Fans can currently head to an official EVE: Valkyrie Pre-Alpha Sign Up page and use either their EVE Online or Dust 514 accounts to login and register interest. CCP Games notes that players will obviously need an Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) in order to take part, preferably being the device’s second development kit (DK2). Players will also need a ‘pretty decent PC’ setup. Details on a start date are yet to be announced.

EVE: Valkyrie puts players in the cockpit of a fighter and shoots them out into space to take part in multiplayer dogfights. The title is also due to arrive on the Project Morpheus HMD on PlayStation 4, though it doesn’t seem like this version will be included in the pre-alpha testing. VRFocus will continue to follow the title closely, reporting back with any further updates on its progress.
