Cloudhead Bringing The Gallery: Six Elements to HTC Vive

Last week VRFocus reported on a teaser from indie developer Cloudhead Games in which the studio suggested that it had new hardware to showcase with its virtual reality (VR) videogame, The Gallery: Six Elements. That teaser has now been revealed in full; Cloudhead Games is working on bringing its anticipated title to the newly-announced HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD). The developer will be showcasing The Gallery: Six Elements running on the new HMD at next week’s Game Developer Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, California, USA.

“We now have a hardware target that matches the original vision for the project,” the developer stated in a new blog on its official website. “To unleash the user into full, volumetric, 360 roomscale experiences with motion control! The HTC and Valve VR experience offers hardware so precise and exacting that we now have the fidelity in our mechanics that we did not have access to before. You will not believe this tech until you get a chance to use it yourself. This is something to be excited about!”

The Gallery: Six Elements is a first-person experience that prides itself on motion control. The title sees players visit different environments to solve a range of challenges. In the past it has been exhibited using motion controllers such as the Sixense STEM System. It’s not clear if title will stick to these controllers for the HTC Vive version of the product, or if Steam VR might offer other means of input. The title will be on display in private demos at next week’s event from 4th – 6th March.

VRFocus will continue to follow The Gallery: Six Elements and the HTC Vive closely, reporting back with any further updates on them. Stay tuned throughout next week as GDC gets underway with new announcements, hands-on impressions and more.
