Ethereon Passes Greenlight Campaign

Last year saw indie developer Innervision Games launch both Kickstarter crowd-funding and Steam Greenlight campaigns for an upcoming virtual reality (VR) title named Ethereon. Sadly the intriguing experience didn’t manage to pass its $35,800 USD Kickstarter goal, with the developer closing the campaign before its intended finish date. However the Steam Greenlight campaign has proved to be a success this month, meaning Ethereon will launch on Valve’s digital store come full release, whenever that may be.

Ethereon is a surreal puzzle-based experience that features full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Set in the aquatic world of the same name, players explore beautiful environments, solving puzzles that have been specifically designed with VR in mind. From time to time players can also ride on some of the wildlife that dwells within the title, being taken on VR roller coasters of sorts. The title is aiming to be highly optimised, running a comfortable VR experience even on moderate PCs.

Ethereon‘s status currently isn’t clear, though it is assumed that the developer continues to work on the title. It was originally estimated to be launching in October 2015, though this may well no longer be the case. Innervision Games had also hoped to bring the title to PlayStation 4 with support for the Project Morpheus HMD. VRFocus will continue to follow Ethereon closely, reporting back with any further updates on the project’s progress.
