Yesterday saw Samsung and Oculus VR finally launch a preview of the commerce store for the Gear VR smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). Available now for US Gear VR owners, the store contains a handful of full, premium videogames to download. Among them is Gunner, the turret-based first-person shooter (FPS) from UK-based VR developer nDreams. To celebrate, the studio has release a launch trailer for the title.
Gunner is a sci-fi experience in which players control a gun turret fixed to the side of a large space craft. Using the Gear VR’s head-tracking technology, players are tasked with shooting down waves of enemy attackers, using special weapons and more to defend their own ship. The title is intended to be an accessible entry point into VR videogames.
This marks the first premium release from nDreams, which is also working on Perfect Beach for Gear VR. Elsewhere, the developer also plans to release first-person adventure experience The Assembly on PC and PlayStation 4 with support for the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus HMDs respectively. VRFocus will continue to follow Gunner‘s progress, reporting back with any further updates on the title.
