Interactive Apartment VROOM: Aerie Launches Greenlight Campaign

Virtual reality (VR) is set to deliver some truly unique videogames and experiences going forward but developers are already creating intriguing titles even without a consumer head-mounted display (HMD) close to release. Indie creator kideternal is one such developer. This week sees the launch of a Steam Greenlight campaign for kideternal’s new VR compatible project, VROOM: Aerie. The campaign hopes to secure enough ‘Yes’ votes in order to be approved for sale on Valve’s digital PC store.

VROOM: Aerie allows players to explore a luxury apartment in first-person with a total of 42 intractable objects to discover and use. An attack helicopter, for example, can be found and then piloted across the room, while video content can be streamed onto the flatscreen television. There’s even a small aquarium that can be explored using a mini submarine. Players will also be able to customise the room to a certain degree, changing the colour of furniture as well as swapping out artwork and planets.

Should VROOM: Aerie pass its Steam Greenlight campaign then the developer hopes to launch as soon as possible with full support for the Oculus Rift. kideternal notes that the title has been specifically developed for the second development version of the HMD (DK2). VRFocus will continue to follow VROOM: Aerie, reporting back with any further updates on its progress.
