Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes Coming to Gear VR

Today sees a number of virtual reality (VR) indie developers gather at the 2015 Game Developers Conference (GDC) to discuss ‘VR for Indies’. Among the list of creators is Ben Kane from Steel Crate Games. The studio is currently working on an anticipated cooperative VR videogame known as Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes for the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus head-mounted displays (HMD). Now Kane has confirmed that the title will also be coming to Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based HMD.

Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes is a unique experience that involves two players. One will wear the given HMD and find themselves faced with defusing a bomb while the other holds the necessary information to do so in a manual. Players must work together under pressured conditions, with neither being able to see what the other is doing. Bomb types and contents will be changed randomly to prevent repetition and difficulty levels will allow players to test themselves as they face other distractions.

The title is one of a number of VR videogames that take advantage of the unique opportunities that VR’s obscured screen presents. Similar titles include Time 2 Amaze and Black Hat.

A release date for Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes is yet to be announced. To that end, it’s also unclear if the title will debut on Gear VR now that the platform has launched its commerce store. Said store is currently only available as a preview option in the USA with a handful of full videogames now available to buy. A wider rollout for this commerce store in other territories is expected in the future.

VRFocus will continue to follow Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes‘ closely, reporting back with any further updates on the title’s progress. Stay tuned throughout GDC this week for new reveals, hands-on impressions and interviews.
